Pretty please!

With the NES half of the Ambassador titles hitting the eShop last week, it's only a matter of time before the ten Game Boy Advance games launch. So far Nintendo has announced only half: Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi's Island, Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Metroid Fusion, Mario vs. Donkey Kong and WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$. What might the other five be?

More Mario Advance

Mario already features in three out of the five announced titles, but there's plenty more where that came from. Our picks are Super Mario Advance, Super Mario Advance 2: Super Mario World and/or Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3. The latter two are more or less ports with some extra shine added, while the first takes Super Mario Bros. 2 and gives it giant enemies, voices and more.

Advance Wars

This original IP almost didn't make it outside of Japan thanks to its complexity and turn-based style, but after the developers added an in-game tutorial it garnered high review scores, multiple sequels and, according to designer Kentaro Nishimura, changed the way that Nintendo views Western gaming tastes. Hopefully we'll see this or its follow-up make the cut, letting a new generation experience the cartoony character and deep, nuanced gameplay that made this a success ten years ago.

A game that changed Nintendo's views of what the West would buy

We'd be surprised if Nintendo's second most popular franchise didn't make an appearance in the list; it already fills two spots on the NES roster, and we hope to see it fill at least one here as well. A Link to the Past saw new life on the handheld, and as the game it came packaged with, Four Swords, is slotted for a DSiWare download, its appearance here is all the more likely. There's also The Minish Cap, which scored an impressive 9/10 in our review.

Rumble in the Jungle

Mario's old foe Donkey Kong made his share of appearances on the potent portable as well, and our pick from his lineup is DK: King of Swing, which saw a follow-up in the DS's DK: Jungle Climber and traded in the straightforward horizontal platforming of his SNES days for a vertically-based left-to-right paw swapping approach. Of course, all three of his Country titles made it to the system as well, and we would happily settle for one of those.

The Cutest Contender

With Kirby's Return to Dreamland and Kirby Mass Attack on the way, Nintendo is likely to try ramping up our enthusiasm by giving us one of the pink puff's GBA games. Kirby and the Amazing Mirror is already rumoured, a sidescroller with a non-linear spin that has you navigate via a maze-like system of transportational mirrors. Another possibility is Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland, an updated version of the NES title Kirby's Adventure.

Whoops, how did that image get there?

Those are our suggestions, but there's a lot more out there. Nintendo could really give fans something to smile about by finally localising Mother 3, for example, which would help explain the delay – but, alas, this isn't the most likely option. There's also the amazing Wario Land 4, which we gave a 9/10 in our review, or one of Mario's other spin-offs, like Mario Pinball Land, Mario Golf: Advance Tour or Mario Tennis: Power Tour. Not to mention the speedy F-Zero: Maximum Velocity and F-Zero GP Legend, the intergalactic Metroid: Zero Mission (another 9/10 from us) or a game from the Mario & Luigi, Fire Emblem or Golden Sun series. And let's not forget that Nintendo published a handful of Final Fantasy titles as well.
