It's the final download update before a Christmas Day line-up, and it may be best to consider it a calm before a storm. There are some relatively promising new downloads on both Wii U and 3DS, along with discounts and demos, so there may be some games to part you from some cash before the main day next week. Let's get to the details.
Wii U eShop
99Moves (EnjoyUp Games, €2.49 / £2.29) — Another EnjoyUp Games title to make the transition from portable to home console, this arcade-like experience tasks you with getting through tricky stages with as few moves as possible. We weren't convinced that this one finds the right balance between difficulty and cheapness in our DSiWare review, but will see if this new version can persuade us otherwise.
Wii U Virtual Console
Mighty Final Fight (Capcom, €4.99 / £3.49) — A rather cute but rock-hard arcade beat 'em up spin-off that graced the NES, this applied a quirky art-style to familiar Final Fight mechanics. It's certainly fun for those that fancy a offbeat challenge, as we explain in our Mighty Final Fight review. This is the US version of the game.
Street Fighter 2010: The Final Fight (Capcom, €4.99 / £3.49) — An oddity in the Street Fighter franchise, as it's absolutely nothing like its 2D fighting siblings. It is 2D, but aside from that this NES title is a mind-numbingly tough action platformer spin-off with a sci-fi storyline — you can see what we think of it in our Street Fighter 2010: The Final Fight review. This is the US version of the game.
Wii U Retail Downloads
Transformers Prime The Game (Activision, €49.99 / £39.99)
Angry Birds Trilogy (Activision, €39.99 / £29.99)
Wii U eShop Promotion
99Moves (EnjoyUp Games, 40% off if you already own 99Seconds, Abyss, Darts Up, Rock Zombie or Unepic on the same Wii U)
Wii U eShop Demo
Art of Balance (Shin'en Multimedia, free)
3DS eShop
Toys vs. Monsters (EnjoyUp Games, €1.99 / £1.99 until 31st December, then €3.99 / £3.99) — Undoubtedly arriving with good timing to target kids and big kids alike, this is a strategy title in which you assemble toys to take on monsters in a variety of environments; the developer is claiming that levels and extras will serve up over 20 hours of gaming. We'll see whether this is best played or left under the bed in our review.
Sumico (Engine Software, €2.99 / £2.69) — Previously a smartphone game, this is a smart puzzler in which you combine tiles to complete sums, providing its own spin on the genre. With plenty of stages and an endless mode this could be ideal for keeping the brain busy in the coming weeks, but we'll see whether it all adds up in a review.
Castle Conqueror Defender (CIRCLE Entertainment, €4.99 / £3.99) — The latest entry in CIRCLE's long-running series, this spins-off from its predecessors to tackle the tower defence genre. While it's a competent effort this one doesn't quite get its defences right, as we explain in our Castle Conqueror Defender review.

METAL GEAR SOLID SNAKE EATER 3D (Konami, €1.49 / £1.39) — Free code with downloads of Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D from 19th December at 12pm UK / 11am CET.
DSiWare
My Aquarium: Seven Oceans (Collavier, 500 Nintendo Points) — A slightly odd download as it is, in reality, and aquarium sim. You select fish to go into your tank and watch them; there's not much else to do. You can see what we thought of this experience in our My Aquarium: Seven Oceans review.
Those are the downloads on offer in Europe this week. Let us know what you're planning to download in the poll and comments below.

Nothing for me this week... Again.
Meh-ybe Might Final Fight.
I was expecting some discounts for Christmas...
Toys vs Monsters looks like it has potential and that sale is extremely tempting...
Also at that price I'll buy Fractured Soul again. Hopefully I'll find someone who wants it.
Fractured soul for £1.99 bargain
@aliaric This is Nintendo we're talking about, they didn't even do Black Friday deals outside of the US, think we're gonna have to wait a few years for them to catch up with the other companies on the digital front still.
@aliaric
Maybe next week. Maybe after a Nintendo direct before New Year like last year.
Wii u VC is a waste of time.
What an awful week, come on Nintendo, this is Xmas season you should be firing with both guns right now.
Damn, what a slow week. Also, no discounts for Wii U?
It is kind of sad when the only thing that stuck to my eye was the atrocious pricing of Angry Birds games.
Give us Duck Hunt already, Nintendo!!!! I even snatched the Wii Zapper back from my two-year-old nephew's toychest just for it!!!!
Oh goody, there's started doing theme bundles now?
That Sonic Boom theme bundle sounds wrong though, the themes already released were clearly Sonic Adventure 1/2 based, Sonic Boom doesn't even have Chao.
Where are the discounts for Wii U? Where is Oddworld?
lol "2st January"
Looks like it's time to buy Another World for the fourth time on a fourth device. I suck, but Eric Chahi can enjoy my money.
Otherwise quite lame week, I wonder are we getting any big Christmas sale discounts this year? Last year for example ZombiU for 5€ was awesome deal.
Code of Princess discount is again really weird, why 20.50? Why not 20? Also why so high price still when North America has had it for cheaper price in sale before if I remember correctly? I could go for it for 15€.
Castlevania, where art thou?
I really don't get it. But I'll wait for discounts, nevertheless and...N64 vc for Christmas? One can dream
N64 on Wii U VC for Xmas? We've got 3 hopes
@ootfan98 no chance would have been announced already if it were coming for xmas
@Luffymcduck Where is Oddworld!?
99 Moves might be worth a tickle with that discount.
No christmas sale?
@Ventilator
No, this Nintendo! Muhahahaha!
Demon King Box, if I had a 3DS. Maybe.
Nothing seems good to me.
As an aside.. new Club Nintendo NA games go live today!
@Luffymcduck : Yes, but there have been far more sales than this overall.
I think devs will announce more sales on Miiverse.
Trine 1 enhanced was supposed to be released this month, but maybe its next week.
@RedDevilAde
The 3 hopes are Bob Hope, No Hope, Stanford Le Hope
Been waiting for a price drop on another world so merry xmas to me
@ootfan98 lol never heard that one before.
I guess the eShop releases for this year won't get interesting for me anymore...
Another really poor week, and I imagine next week will be the same or worst
Angry Birds costs AAA?
I was waiting for the eShop version and I would buy it for my kids, but I don't want to send a signal, that mobile games are worth AAA.
@aliaric
Christmas is next week. If there is going to be any Christmas discounts, they will probably be next week as E-shop sales usually last from week to week.
@ikki5 its more like after Christmas discount... if it will be
Gotta get me that Angry Birds Trilogy download, at 30 quid it's a right bargain.
@aliaric
How? Christmas is on Thursday next week. The E-shop day for Europe is Monday and there is one more Monday before Christmas so therefore if there was any discounts, then they would be before, during, and after Christmas. The only one that it would be After Christmas would be if they waited until next week for NA as NA's changes on Thursday or it would be doing it starting on Christmas (which personally, I thinking would be a pretty cool thing especially since people tended to get E-shop cards on Christmas). So I don't know where you are getting this "after" Christmas thing when there is still one more Monday to go.
Terrible week, and still no Demon's Crest.
And in this release climate in Europe Captain Toad has to wait till January? Really, NoE?
Mighty Final Fight for me - finally
@RupeeClock you're right, probably a typo.
Fractured soul looks good and for £2 i cant go wrong
"Free code with downloads of Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D from 19th December at 12pm UK / 11am CET."
so the fact that i bought the game for 3DS right when it came out doesnt help me here right?
Nothing looks interesting at all this week.
Really curious to see what they have lined up for Christmas day.
What a load of rubbish! At least try and make an effort Nintendo.
@ikki5 eShop games do come out Thursday in EU, we just get told what will get released on Mondays
@Boxmonkey Mighty Final Fight is awesome, dude.
@Ootfan98
That's a little weird, i see all the time people posting about how they "picked" something up on the Mondays... I just figured the stuff all came out on Monday.
ITS NOT A SONIC BOOM BUNDLE!
Its not called that in America, I'm away from my 3DS and can't check, but when all themes are of the Modern, not Sonic Boom style, and have music like Seaside Hill (Sonic Modern Gen. Remix) Radical Highway(Amazing song of Shadows), and Amy's Theme My Sweet Passion, it isn't Sonic Boom.
@6ch6ris6 In Japan, the theme will be released separately for 200 Yen, but free to anyone who buys the game on the eShop for 40 dollars, instead of the 20 we have going on in the US and EU. NA Snake Eater is out this week for 20.
Do I finally see a discount on Another World? Sold!
Nothing else of interest, really. I'm hoping for some more discounts next week for Christmas.
Either there's a Nintendo Direct this week, a Nintendo Download update next week or my DDP plans are completely destroyed.
@Grumblevolcano Don't hold your breath mate!
@andyg1971 I know there's not an extension but rather I was expecting stuff like the Hyrule Warriors preorder DLC and Mario Kart Super Circuit to arrive this week.
@Grumblevolcano that super circuit pre 2015 release isn't gonna happen for us dude!! I need 75 more points for a code after picking up stealth Inc 2 and how to survive.......Think I'll get shovel knight and shelve My plans until the May mk8dlc gets me in the mood again?
Sonic Boom isn't related to the Sonic themes whatsoever. They are Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 based.
@Knuckles I can confirm that the Sonic bundle is simply referred to as Sonic Bundle in NA.
EVERYONE IN NA don't forget that WOAH DAVE! For 3DS IS DISCOUNTED FROM 5$ TO $0.99 STARTING TODAY.
@Porky The Sonic one is not from the Adventure games. Seaside Hill is from Heroes though that game combined with the Adventure ones generally get put under the "Dreamcast" era even though the former was multiplatform.
I'm here to complain cause I want to fit in.
@Grumblevolcano 'kay.
nintendo always get lazy near xmas and the start of the newyear i remember when the wii u first came out and there was no games until march.
What happened to Iddle Dew? It was in the list here a few weeks ago and it's not in the (German) eshop?!
Another World discount is tempting, but not this week.
@Grumblevolcano I was hoping for the same too
What is activision smoking with those prices for angry birds?? I also can't imagine for the life of me why those files are 2 gig in size??
Totally puzzling!!
Was hoping this was the week we would finally see some more Castlevania goodness. Seems i hoped to high.
I'm not sure Nintendo has anything up it's sleeve for Christmas or January sales?
I saw some other discounts on eShop as well. Downloaded Master Reboot. It was at least 50% off.
I got Another Earth, was expecting a more drastic update to the game but for that price it is a good deal.
Is this it for Christmas?? Will there be another eShop download on Christmas day?
