Renegade Kid’s Jools Watsham revealed not so long ago that his company had regained control of the Dementium brand, and that he had plans for the series moving forward.
Speaking to Twitch channel Vinesauce, Watsham has now delivered more details on the proposed revival of the survival horror franchise. The first game in the series will be getting an enhanced re-release on the 3DS eShop, boasting 60fps visuals and full auto-stereoscopic 3D support.
Renegade Kid is also planning to tidy up elements of the game, including the removal of constantly respawning foes and unfair checkpoints. However, Watsham explained that he is aware that existing fans like the "brutal" nature of the original game, so there may be the chance to retain these features in a "hardcore" mode.
Assuming Dementium is a success on the eShop, we may also see the sequel get the same treatment — as well as an entirely new third game, although Watsham is keen to stress that the latter isn't going to happen "any time soon".
Dementium is expected to arrive in Q2 of next year. Will you be investing in this download? Let us know by posting a comment.

More than likely. I enjoyed the second game, but never got to play the first, so this could be the perfect time.
I would support it but horror isn't my thing, BUT TREASURENUATS IS!
This might be the only thing from them I'm interested in. Even with that said the first game rubbed me the wrong way for whatever reason.
YES! TAKE MY MONEY! I would buy all three games day 1 whenever they are released, I just hope that Dementium 1 will have a added survival mode like Dementium 2 and the survival mode of D2 will return (if it comes out), if D3 comes out then I would want that to have a survival mode as well, I also hope that this isn't a episodic thing like Moon, I am still waiting for the rest of the episodes...and they did say a season 2 was going to be a thing...busy busy busy.
I'll buy it provided the game is released in EU ! By the way, we'd like to have Moon here in EU !!! Eh oh Jools ! Are you listening to me ? EU exists and it's here ! Ouhouhhhh !!!
Maybe they can make it an episodic remake, release episode 1, and then never release episode 2.
I don't think they would do it like this, but I do not want to have episodes. Just a full game.
Very exciting though!
Europe is still waiting on all their other games. We'll see this in 2016 at the earliest.
@Markshark Jools has sent all of the remaining episodes for Moon Chronicles into Nintendo for approval. Instead of spacing it out, they all got sent in at once.
Not saying i won't buy this again, because I will, because I'm weak, but I'd much rather see them making Dementium 3. Not a fan of all the remakes lately... Give us a new entry!
Gyro option would make me...mad about it.
I will definitely be grabbing this. I missed Dementium I on the DS (got the second), but lackluster reviews and noted issues (respawning enemies, poor checkpoints, etc) kept me away. The idea of a third game has piqued my attention.
Never got to try it. Always wanted to. Now is my chance. I'm in.
Well, Dementium is a great game. But since we wait for the complete MoonChronicles I do not believe that this release will ever be happen.
@Markshark: I agree with you.
Move along Europe, nothing to see here.
Nintendo should make them second party already. Just saying.
What about Moon Chronicles episodes 2-4?
This is great I never got a chance to play the first or the second game and would love to. I just hope they dont give it the same treatment they did moon because seriously come on im still waiting for the other parts of the game to come out -_-.
Hehehe... I felt this may have been one of the creepiest games I have ever played... And I LOVE the horror genre! picking this up as they say, "Day One!"
2 is actually my favorite handheld FPS and the game that made me a fan of their company. I always wanted to try 1 but the issues they are addressing had turned me off to it.
However im still so furious about MOON that I'm not sure what I'll do when this comes out. They've really hurt some of their most loyal customers with the lack of communication regarding the remaining Moon chapters.
I'm not usually a survival horror type of guy, but if there's gonna be a demo, I'd give this a try.
Cool bananas! I always wanted to play these games but I've never seen them around here, I'll download them for sure
Please use the second circle pad/nipple. I don't want to use the stylus
These guys are asking to be boycotted. Release some games in Europe guys! ...and how about finishing your current projects before moving on to new ones?
Expected Q2 next year,or for Europeans some time in 2016
Just about time!
Inb4 they split it in chapters
Cool. I never played the original, but I'll give this one a go.
Horror games are always cool in my book.
@Morpheel
Though if they do that I will leave passive aggressive comments on whatever news pop up from this game.
Hopefully I like this one, I didn't like Moon Chronicles.
Awesome!
How about finishing Moon Chronicles first, Renegade? Seriously, you guys' track record on developing games sound like me when I play them (which is playing too many at once before finishing the others).
It's cool that they're porting all of their games, because these were always games I was interested in but never got around to picking up.
I'm not a huge horror game fan but I've heard good things about it. Hopefully they will have a demo.
I enjoyed the first two games and were a nice treat since portable horror games don't come around too often. I'd be definitely interested in grabbing this one.
@everyone_who_mentions_remaining_moon_episodes:
They are in submission with Nintendo, according to a tweet from RK. They are finished, they are coming.
@everyone_who_mentions_europe:
It costs a serious sum of money to publish games in Europe. It is free in America. Devs have to weigh up the number of sales in America to estimate if they'll actually make any money releasing in Europe. Sucks to be in Europe, but that's business.
Yes! Yes! Yes!
Have the originals of 1 and 2, 2 had to be imported since Europe never got it.
Which seems to be a bit of a problem... We also still haven't seen Moon on 3DS (still have the original though). I really look forward to Dementium in 3D, especially the second game, when running can be done by pushing the analog stick further... But when are we ever going to get it?
Awesome!
@Damo "....boasting 60fps visuals and full auto-stereoscopic 3D support."
Even with 3D on it runs at 60fps?
