Mighty No. 9, the upcoming title from Keiji Inafune's Comcept studio that has Mega Man fans rather excited, finally has release dates. As many have guessed it won't arrive this Spring, but is hitting the Wii U in North America on 15th September and other territories on 18th September. In even better news, there'll be a physical retail version for Nintendo's home console in addition to the usual eShop download. As for the 3DS version - along with its fellow portable iteration on the Vita - that'll come along "at a later point", while no physical release has been confirmed for the handheld.
Comcept is teaming up with Deep Silver, the major publisher based in Germany that's handled franchises such as Dead Island and Metro. It's been stated that thanks to the partnership there'll be much-wanted additions such as extra language options, as well as 'Ray' DLC that'll include an extra stage and boss battle. Kickstarter backers will get these extras and DLC for free, while the Ray content will also be included in the physical retail version.
The infographic below summarises the big details rather nicely.
Are you excited about this and planning to pick it up in September? Perhaps you're going to opt for the physical retail version? Let us know.

I can't wait! So many games to pick up this fall gotta keep my wallet fed.
I might pick it up, but for some reason I'm not as excited as when I first heard about it. I hope there's a demo to convince me one way or another.
Hell yes, I'll support it physically! So happy there's release date news on this at last.
We are certain the Wii U is getting a physical copy right?
Edited:
Okay, physical disc is 30 bucks.
Yeah!
Polish language? Whoa!
That's quite some delay, but oh well.
I hope it is to improve the game not to optimize the DLC costing as much as possible.
Japanese language!?
Win!
@Angelic_Lapras_King That's what I want to know, and that it's not restricted to the US but will come to Europe too.
Was hoping for this sooner. The worst part is the 3DS version is the one I'm most anxious for and still no date only 'at a later point.' ,. Retail Wii U version seems to be what I'm gonna get though .
YES.
Oh, I will take the boxed version!
@FragRed I mean its no real biggie to me. I'd prefer a physical version but if it's not the case for us, I'll be more then happy with the download.
Sounds neat, but I think I might grab the physical version for the bonus stage instead of the download. Hopefully the retail version is out around the same time as the digital version. And yes, $10 is worth it just to have it physical.
I know I said I wasn't getting any more games but damnit I'm a huge Megaman fanboy and I've waiting for this for ages. I'll get it whenever it releases for the 3DS
Physical? Yes please, gov'ner!
I may wait for the 3ds version. Why not, waited this long.
SO MUCH HYPE! I am a pledge and I can't wait.
Looks really underwhelming actually, I'm giving this a miss.
September really isn't that far away. Or maybe I'm just an old man who's ceased to notice the passage of time. EITHER ONE.
I'm stoked for this. Bring it on!
Physical release for me.
Wow, what a nice surprise! Physical on Wii U for sure!
According to the Kickstarter backer FAQ, the Wii U will indeed be getting a physical release.
I emailed the backer support team today to see about upgrading my pledge somehow so I can get a physical copy instead of digital download, and I'll update if I get a response.
@MaciejKuczynski hey, Poland is home to major Nintendo supporting publisher Teyon, so it seems fitting
@unrandomsam they took quite a bit of grief from backers when they came back last year, hat-in-hand, asking for more pledges to support the DLC that nobody requested for a game that wasn't even released yet. I've been following development pretty closely (day-one backer) and I get the feeling they learned their lesson when they got greedy.
Will definitely be picking up the physical version, but probably for the PS4 at this point.
@Angelic_Lapras_King Just wait for that update when they announce the Wii U physical version will be Nintendo style limited edition and the port will be lacking all DLC.
@JJtheTexan Yeah, but there are only like 2 or 3 games on current gen Nintendo consoles that are available in Polish.
@FragRed Again no biggie. If that were the case after buying the Ninty version, I'd probably pick up the XBLA version in a sale afterwards. XD
I cant believe a game coming out on the Wii U eShop in Sept has a price already. Im sure the eShop itself wont have a date or price until its available to download (MK8 DLC still said "Late May" the day before it released ladt week) but its good to see a company using some common sense and telling its customers things they want to know - date and price - in advance.
My son is a big Megaman fan but hes been asking me seemingly forever when Mario Maker is coming out, so unless Nintendo misses Sept w/ that, this will probably have to wait.
Oh, and good news for anybody waiting for this, maybe the new Club Nintendo will be working by then. I would hope so anyway.
My guess is a November release for 3DS. Which, kinda sucks because, it's the one I want the most. I was gonna go: home console-PS4 and portable-3DS. If the 3DS version dips into 2016, forget it. I'll be over it by then.
Nice price there! I did back the project. I think I donated £7.
Can't even remember how much I backed this for. It will just feel free now. I'm all for that.
It's funny how many people just want this to be Mega Man and I get why, but it does have to stand on its own as well. In fact, wouldn't that be better, ultimately?
Will be picking up the physical version for sure!
Hooboy.
Awesome! Physical version for me, as soon as I can find it.
@Luigi21
I'm with you on this.
I hope the 3ds version come soon
I hope for a physical release of the game the box art is cool looking
I'll be definitely buying the physical release for this. We won't ever get a new mega man game, but this is definitely a great alternative!
Physical it shall be!!!!
Man, I wish they would have at least stated the 3ds hard copy date. Oh well.
I'm gonna wait for the 3DS version. I'm on a portable kick right now.
YAY!
I heart the tangible. Physical copy for me, thanks.
I'll probably get this physically since it comes with some DLC installed already.
I backed this and I don't care anymore. Graphics look bad so far and animations are awful. BUT with the final version and the delay maybe all that will be addressed.
Yay il get retail proboably for xbone
Yay il get retail proboably for xbone
If this game turns out as awesome as they claim, I'll gladly pay the extra for the boxed copy. BUT if it turns out as bland as it looks from gameplay videos, then $20 for the digital will still be too much. Definitely waiting for reviews on this one.
At first I was gonna go for the digital release, but...
Free DLC and Extra's? I'd be crazy NOT to get the physical release.
I didn't even no the planed on releasing a physical version! Awesome!
@Godlygamer They're most certainly not free, hence the $10 price difference.
@ricklongo That's true, but by the way this game is shaping, I would gladly spend an extra 10$.
Also, how do I link usernames when I am replying? I know I sound like a noob, but...
@Angelic_Lapras_King Yes, Wii U is getting a physical copy.

Not a Deep Silver fan at all anymore but that won't affect my decision to support Concept because they deserve it. This looks kinda awesome.
So thrilled at this news. This just went from a "wait for eShop sale price" to "Day 1 Physical Disc purchase" for me. I like to support indies as much as possible but a physical release is my favorite way to own games. I'm still waiting for Teslagrad on disc even though I could have gotten on sale in digital.
The second half of 2015 is turning out amazing for Wii U with Mighty No. 9, Rodea the Sky Soldier, Fatal Frame V, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Star Fox, Yoshi's Wooly World, Mario Maker, etc. And that doesn't even include the stunning Splatoon which has me the most excited I've been for a new IP/concept in over 5 years. The Wii U has really turned into a gem of a console!
Can't decide if I want this for ps4, or Wii U :/
Totally getting a physical release!
Lol at much-wanted additions claiming to be extra language options.
I'll be gifting my code for being a Kickstarter backer and get the retail version.
Day 1 purchase.
Tenner more for boxed = might as well.
Beta footage didn't really get me excited, I'll skip this one unless an exceptional demo put out.
This game might a disappointment. I don't trust Inafune one bit.
Walking into the store, and coming out mighty and SWELL!!!!!
Ok guys I know I'll tick people off if I just say it's a scam but I don't know much about this game and haven't done much research. This post is made entirely from what I think I know so I'm not saying this game is a scam. I'm asking you to tell me where I got misinformation and to explain why it isn't a scam.
Ok so basically I only know things from a bystander standpoint. I've seen multiple articles on Siliconera about this game...that's pretty much wher all my info comes from. Anyway I believe that they got over 4 million dollars to make this game(like 2-3 years ago?) which I believe smashed every stretch goal by a large amount. The game then went back up on kickstarter over a year later because supposedly they couldn't afford voice actors even though an animated series had been announced. They didn't get their 100,000, or more extra dollars, which is apparently what it costs to get voice actors for two languages, so they had the fans vote on one language...and now they have enough for like...scratch that I notice those are subtitles but apparently English is now a thing even though they supposedly coudn't afford it.
Anyway it takes them this long to finish the game, they ask for extra money even though they got a ton extra, and the DLC is a bonus for backers. I don't understand that last part. Usually DLC is defended by saying that it has its own seperate budget and sales projections but can you really use that excuse when the whole game was paid for by someone else? If you ask me backers should get the GAME free not the DLC. Either that or a minature statue of Beck or something. As for the DLC everyone should get it free because making it doesn't cost them a dime and it's been announced before the game comes out? As day 1 DLC? Day 1 DLC that's already included ON THE DISC VERSION!? Shovel Knight was a kickstarter project and it gives free DLC so why can't this?
But like I said explain how this isn't a scam. Maybe the DLC isn't actually on the disc like I'm assuming and maybe Inafune's company is actually taking some money out of their own pocket. Tell me if I got stuff wrong but as of now I don't trust this game or the creators one bit, and it might just be because I got facts wrong. I doubt I got it wrong enough to change my mind but if I did please tell me.
I agree, day one DLC is total nonsense. Physical or not, if you have it done, put it in the game. Don't take out content for a few extra bucks.
I will be picking up this game though, assuming it gets good feedback! I am a huge Mega Man fan, and Comcept has already proved it can make an awesome game in the form of Azure Striker Gunvolt. Physical it is, but I hope that digital buyers get what's already been completed.
It's not that it's day one DLC. It's that it's day one DLC when it didn't cost them a cent. I can understand day one DLC if they specifically set aside money for DLC aside from the main budget. That content wouldn't have been there if they hadn't added extra to the budget...(still can be shady though) Why, however do they have charged DLC when they didn't even cover their own development costs? I honestly think it's because they see how much the fans want to support Inafune and Mega Man. If I'm not misinformed about all this I'd even say Inafune had a large hand in Capcom's business practices. Someone please explain this because I am honestly confused. It seems like they're blatantly taking advantage of Mega Man fans' exceptionally generous support.
Note: I'm not one of these fans(I've probably only played one official Mega Man game, and two fan-made ones), but they gave over 4 million for you to make this game, and you still want all this extra? What gives? I don't understand. I literally don't. I'm trying to figure it out in my brain and asking here cuz I don't feel like searching the net for the answer.
I agree with some comments here. The animation is still horrible. The screen scrolling still feels like it's skipping frames because of the running animation. Getting it on the eShop but will first wait for reviews just in case.
I might get this game. I will wait to see if it's good or not.
Physical copy for the win!
Nintendo Life has covered this games development for a while and it's been a long wait for this game. I'm happy this game is finally releasing.
Wasn't Teslagrad suppose to get a physical Wii U copy too?
Ill wait for the cart release. Not a mega man fan at all bit I'll give this a go.
@NinjaWaddleDee There's probably not going to be any difference in the graphics department for this game, so buy it for the console which controller you like best. I think the Wii U Pro Controller is better suited for 2D platforming(and pretty much everything else) than the DS4, so I would go with the Wii U version
I'd be excited for if I thought the art style they used was any good. Something about it pushes me away from wanting to get this game, but I guess I'll let the reviews tell the full story of this game before I jump the gun.
@Samuel-Flutter yeah, the wii u disc version is produced and ready to go, we're working with our partner soedesco on getting into enough retail locations to get a date cleared. Things get complex when you're a microstudio doing physical releases:)
@ollibald Oh sweet! Good to know. Yeah, I can imagine that it's complex trying to release physical discs. I heard it was coming out this year, but that was the last thing. Thanks for the conformation.
@TreonsRealm @Samuel-Flutter sorry for the wait!
I'm shocked that Deep Silver is publishing this..they have said some not so friendly things about nintendo and bringing games to their systems.
US$29.99 for the retail version with DLC seems fair enough, but I'll probably get it later since I'll be way busy with Mario Maker!
I'll get the Wii U retail version. We shall see how it holds up in comparison to Gunvolt and Shovel Knight... and if all of the time, money, and drama can dethrone the greatness of Mega Man X. Can it? Or is this simply another Chinese Democracy?
@JoakimZ Yeah I could care less about graphics in a game like this. I was just thinking about going PS4 in order to make my PS4 library a little bigger lol. I only have like 3 games for it! I would have had 3 more, but I traded some games away because I couldn't care less for them. Plus there's absolutely zero PS4 games that I am interested in this year, except for Bloodborne. Which I'm waiting on a price drop for.
I'll probably just get the Wii U version anyway though, just to support the console (because it's my favorite of this gen) and also to watch my pretty decent sized Wii U collection grow. I have about 10 physical games, and I'm pretty proud of that.
@ollibald Cool, thanks for the head's up. I completely understand the difficulty involved with getting a physical release. Personally, I'm super excited to play both Mighty No 9 and your Teslagrad in physical release and will happily pay a little more for that convenience. Thanks
I've fancied this for a while now but a poor time to release it, it should be a June ,July release as there just is no games that time for nintendo
Retail versions all the way baby!
I wonder if I´ll be able to change my award into a physical disc instead of USB. That´s the big question for me.
Hm, I was wondering if it would come out in April at all by the end of the month.
Maybe I'll get the physical version. There's so little memory space in Wii U and I won't buy another external hard drive just for Wii U (sales for retail titles aren't very good, not that there's too many of them either, you know, lack of 3rd party support...).
Oh look an reason to purchase an WiiU. Wow I mean zomgsh
