Nintendo of Europe has been running discounts on the Wii U and 3DS eShop stores over the weekend in its Cyber Deals promotion, throwing in retail releases with discounts of 40-50%. There have been some decent deals but, in our opinion, the final batch is the best yet.
Xenoblade Chronicles is the cross-platform franchise - though oddly with the same game - this time around, which fits in nicely with the upcoming launch of Xenoblade Chronicles X on Wii U. Each system has another gem up for discount, too, so let's get to the details.
Wii U eShop
- Xenoblade Chronicles - €9.99 / £8.99 (normally €19.99 / £17.99)
- Bayonetta 2 - €29.99 / £23.99 (normally €49.99 / £39.99)
3DS eShop
- Xenoblade Chronicles 3D - €26.99 / £23.99 (normally €44.99 / £39.99)
- Kid Icarus: Uprising - €19.99 / £16.99 (normally €34.99 / £29.99)
We've given a ballpark figure for Kid Icarus: Uprising in Europe as we only have access to a UK unit, and it's an odd 43% off for that title; by all means correct us in the comments!
These offers run until 11pm UK / midnight CET on 30th November / 1st December in Europe. Are you tempted by any of these discounts?

Kid Icarus is £16.99 and Xenoblade is £23.99
Xenoblade on the Wii U is a decent enough deal... though apart from that what a pathetic sale from NoE.
Disappointing, the only games in all 4 days I don't have are Game & Wario and Puzzle & Dragons. NoA's sales were better.
So this basically means I can get Xenoblade for free considering the discount deal with X(cross).
Sounds like a good deal.
Highly recommend kid icarus for any one who hasn't tried it yet...its a brilliant game
(hit reply while editing.........) Was going to say
Kid Icarus is £16.99 and Xenoblade is £23.99, which are the same as I have seen them in the shops. They should stay at that price digitally. Kid Icarus is another game that should have been in the Nintendo Select range.
Well. Everyone was saying American sales were better. I think not. I want Bayonetta, Xenoblade Chronicles (it hasn't even been released in America's eShop yet), and Xenoblade Chronicles 3D at those prices (I buy only digital, so those would be great discounts here in América).
We don't even have Nintendo Selects yet, so you may count those as discounts, too.
Retail digital discounts are only from one year or more old games. Excepting some, like Mario Golf. Not even a main Mario game got discounted (3D World or 3D Land, for example).
Kid Icarus and Xenoblade are absolute steals if you don't have them yet. Although I feel like Kid Icarus is old enough to be a $20 Select title by now (they haven't introduced a line of discount games for 3DS yet at all, have they? I know a few people who would die of happiness for a $20 reissue of Ocarina of Time.)
Since I'm going digital with XCX, thanks for the free XC Wii game Nintendo!
Well I think that right there is undeniably a great deal. Xenoblade Chronicles for less than a tenner? You'd be daft to pass it up at that price when people have paid upwards of $100 for it when it was as rare af a couple of years ago in America. Kid Icarus Uprsing and Bayonetta 2 are at great prices too, hopefully the late adopters to the Wii U buy Bayonetta in some capacity as it is one of the best on the console.
It ends as it started. With a whimper. Shame on you NOE.
@TeslaChippie
Nintendo select on 3DS - Yoshis New Island, Nintendo Cats and Dogs, Mario Party Island Tour, Link Between Worlds, Mario Open Tennis , Starfox 64. All £15.99 retail and disgital.
https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Games/Nintendo-Selects/Nintendo-Selects-622070.html
They should have Kid Icarus and Pilotwings in there as well. Was surprised they added link between worlds to be honest.
@TeslaChippie there are select titles, 8 of them. 3 nintendogs, link between worlds, mario party, mario tennis, new yoshi island and star fox. I wouldn't expect more from them
As always, Nintendo gives us nothing
Kinda had high hopes that Rune Factory 4 would've been part of the sale.
I'm new to recent Nintendo stuff and have a Wii U and recently a 2DS. I see here that Xenoblade for the 3DS is much more expensive, but is it a better game than the Wii U version? Or just a pocket version that is oddly priced?
EDIT: Oh it's a Wii version not Wii U.
@riChchestM It's an oddly priced pocket version. It's mostly the same game, but the graphics aren't as good.
@Sligeach I see someone read T.S. Elliot
As for the deals, neither NoE nor NoA were impressive, but honestly, neither were Sonys' or Microsofts' this year.
Overall, I got me Boxboy! and Rare Replay ... and, well, a bunch of steam stuff of course ^^
@riChchestM Xenoblade came out late 2011 on the Wii and was released on the 3DS about the same time as the updated 3DS console in 2015, and you need a New 3DS to run it. The game is basically the same game as the Wii version, with a hit to the graphics quality. Its a big game in a small package, both Wii and 3DS versions are definitely worth a purchase.
Bring xenoblade chronicles to nintendo America eshop. I know xenoblade chronicles x is coming Friday, but I still have to wait for it until Christmas.
@Ralek85
I got a few Steam games, Wolfenstein old blood and new order £13 for both on the Xbox One and a few games on Android and iOS. Was hoping for some Nintendo love but I either didn't think they were worth the money or had them already. Think I'll get Shovel Knight on the 3DS to compensate for the lack of purchases, I have been putting it off for to long anyway.
@Funem Why would you buy both if it's the same game unless it supported Cloud saves (which I'm betting it doesn't). I'm surprised that it doesn't support 2DS as I thought that 2DS was supposed to run all 3DS games, but I'm certainly not getting the purchase option enabled on my 2DS for this. I guess that helps me make my mind up which version to go for. That's if £8.99 is actually a good deal or not.
Sure it's effectively free if I buy the new Xenoblade game in a few weeks, but I'm betting that there will be savings of greater than £9 if I wait a little longer.
Considering it's a yank thing, Europe should be grateful that they get any discounts, particularly if digital is your thing. I was expecting Zelda today, but I'm glad they didn't go that way, I'm going to grab Xenoblade on the Wii U
I've read the above three times but still can't see any deals. Someone's having a laugh. : )
@riChchestM I'm saying both are worth the money, whichever system you choose to buy them on. Xenoblade 3DS only works on the New 3DS range. Its one of a couple of games (A Japanese one as well I believe) that require the new bump in hardware spec require to run it.
If I buy the Wii U eshop version of Xenoblade Chronicles, will it work with my existing save file on my vWii?
@Giygas_95 To each their own. I think it's probably the single most impressive and most modern game available for ANY handheld device, and I'm glad to own it
@TeslaChippie As am I. I don't deny that it's very impressive for a handheld either. I was just saying it's pretty much the same game with lower resolution.
@syrupdash Rune Factory 4 will be available for 30% off between 21st December and 6th January in Marvelous Europe's own sale =).
Well I think I might get Xenoblade Wii as it's impulse buy worthy, but I doubt that will make me get the X version. That £9 saving is still going to be £1 more than retailers will be selling physical copies for.
@syrupdash Oh wait, that was "Lord Of Magna: Maiden Heaven". Why did I get those two mixed up? Oh well. That's still a fun game too.
@riChchestM lol, you don't seem to know about the rarity of XC on Wii. Physical copies go for 50 EUR...
Well thanks Nintendo, the ONLY game I wanted to buy from this sale is XC on Wii, but today I don't have access to my Wii U. Is there any way to buy it w/o using the Wii U?
Xenoblade, yes!
@manu0 You misread. XB Wii will get you £9 off XB X Wii U until 18/12/15. But Nintendo's RRP for XB X is £49.99. Amazon, Argos and others have that for £39.99. That £9 isn't worth much.
@gcunit I would assume not since the virtual Wii is it's own segregated system as far as I can tell. You can't see it's save files from the Wii U storage right?
These deals alone beats the cyber deals we got in NA.
@Joshawott Sweet, I'd been hoping for a discount for RF4 as well.
Edit: Oh I see you were confused with another game. Hopes crushed.
@gcunit If you have an SD card with save files from the disk game, they still work with Wii download games.
Wish I could buy digital copy of Xenoblade Chronicles in North America, let alone at $10.
...Meh.
Kid Icarus is about £16 at quite a few online stores plus it comes with the AR cards and the 3DS stand. Somewhat redundant perhaps, but nice to have for the same price or cheaper than digital.
Xenoblade on wii is the only half decent discount in the whole sale, the rest have been pretty bad. Xenoblade 3DS has been as low as £18 a number of times in the past, as has Bayonetta 2 (inc. Bayonetta 1) Overall, very poor sale, I guess Black Friday just doesn't have the same following in Europe yet. Maybe next year they'll learn.
Not the best cyber deals TBH, most of the games I already bought, expect I did pick up 3D world and Donkey Kong tropical freeze which I am enjoying
For those of you considering the digital Kid Icarus Uprising, the Nintendo UK Store still sells the Kid Icarus Stand Pack for £9.99.
http://store.nintendo.co.uk/3ds-accessories/kid-icarus-stand-pack/10975293.html
The AR Idol cards are a nice distraction, but you really do want the stand for comfortable play sessions.
Just picked up Xenoblade Chronicles on the Wii at the brilliant discount price, but now I face a bit of a dilema for when Xenoblade Chronicles X comes out: do I go physical or digital (i have more than enough storage for either), what do you guys/gals suggest??
I don't think this is even coming to NA on Wii U VC. From what i understand, we are luck to have it on 3DS. I would prefer to play it on my monitor.
Praise Arceus something I actually want,Question for any one does Xenoblade on WiiU support the gamepad or do I have to use the Wii remote/nunchuck
@noquarter28
Try an emulator?
1 good deal out of 16. But a great one: I already own XC and couldn't pass this up. It's also compatible with the offer to buy the Wii game and get £10 off a digital XCX (bringing it down to £40, which isn't too shabby for getting both I guess).
I hope the XC downloads eclipse all the other 'offers' so that NoE might actually realise how terrible this black Friday weekend has been.
@The__Goomba supports gamepad - check the eshop page for confirmation, under view more details it will list all compatible controllers.
@GLA Thanks for the info
@RupeeClock Or how about the stand with the actual game for 16 pounds? http://www.zavvi.com/games-3ds/kid-icarus-uprising-includes-free-game-and-3ds-stand/10300633.html
@LemonSlice
The site's not wanting to load for me, but if that's a real deal that's fantastic.
@RupeeClock Fixed the link. It's real. And with free shipping for most of Europe. ShopTo has had the same package for a similar price for quite a while now. That's where I got my copy from.
My first deals on last day.. Xenoblade Wii + Blocky Bot.
Speaking from the other side of the pond, I think EU had the better deals. There just wasn't much for me to get excited about in the North American sale (save for maybe Box Boy).
Would be nice to have XC 3D downloaded to my new 3DS (digital games tend to get played more) but I can't jusfify £20 as I've already got the cart... Which I've still barely played. Shame on me.
Must be a huge file size too.
XC has a nice discount but as for Kid Icarus, I would go for the physical version which at the moment goes for £1 cheaper than this download at Zavvi. You get the stand too.
To me this sale just highlights how ludicrous the digital prices are compared to physical.
Kid Icarus was 42% off in Norway.
And a small warning: Xenoblade Chronicles 3D requires more blocks (approximately 30000) than the default 4GB 3DS bundled microSD card has available to game storage.
Looks like I'm buying Xenoblade Chronicles. And, I bought Dragon Age: Inquisition yesterday. Anyone got a spare 200 hrs I can borrow 😅
Finally! Bayonetta 2 and XC are mine.
Also thinking about Kid Ikarus for my upcoming 3DS...
Well today's deals are great considering everyone's hype about those games sadly don't like any of them. Wish they had Monster hunter like US had oh well
Wow, Xenoblade on VC is actually a deal! Who saw that coming? The other 3 are the same case of physical copes being cheaper though. XBC 3D and Bayonetta 2 have boy been easily available at half this price!
Well that's certainly a bang when I can get every single game for even less at my local GameStop. Well, maybe not Xenoblade. But I already got everything so I don't care.
@blackice85 @morphballer @gcunit
I think it will work provided you played the Wii disc on the same Wii U you're downloading the VC Xenoblade.
GoldenGamer88 so go there and get it! Your not the center of the world for lot's of people it's a great deal
I expect nothing, and I'm still let down.
Well, Xenoblade for 8.99 is pretty good, sadly I still haven't gotten around to getting a Wii U.
Another day when one has all on offer As some Americans here are pointing out, these are great games at nice discounts, especially for those who buy most games digitally. Wish there were some indie games though for the ones who owns most 1st party games. Just have to hope there will be some nice christmas sales
Ok im not so fond about N deals, but Xeno is not bad for 10Euro.
Better would be, for free when you also download Xeno X.
XC is mine, can't resist at that price. Don't know if I'll manage to finish it before XCX arrives, though...
Now these are some very good games!
And also kind of nice discounts
I already have all games though
It is a shame that multiplayer is strange in Kid Icarus: Uprising
What i am talking about?
When (playing dark vs. light)you are in one team and that team is winning, you will probabaly win in all cases.
And same if you are in losing team. You will lose in all cases.
Some kind of ranking and patch? And spotpass to this is dead...WHY?
@DontPlayDumb Wait, what is strange about it? If you are on a team that loses, of course you lose too. And Vice Versa. You don't somehow get to win if your team lost or lose if your team won.
What about Free-For-All mode? You aren't in teams in that mode. You fight player vs player. Try that if you don't like playing on teams.
@Crimzonlogic
In other multplayer games there is something like looking players by their skills. But what i am complaining about.
Nintendo don't know what is multiplayer and web/internet.
Also i don't know by what rule you will get new weapon/skill.
I have got them very rarely.
@DontPlayDumb The weapons are awarded to players at the end of matches completely at random, I think.
I dunno, I thought this game's multi was fun. Are you complaining about the lack of things like player stats and leaderboards? That's something that could have been added, but it's not something necessary.
@Crimzonlogic
I am complaining that team matching sux.
Stats and leaderboards? No need to unless they were hidden and tied to you and by it you are going to team.
No to leaderboards ->Nintendo meaning of multiplayer in many games.
Comparing scores only? It is not even a joke.
@DontPlayDumb The matching probably should have been added, but it might be a moot point now. At least half of the "players" you face in multiplayer nowadays are actually bots, because hardly anyone plays anymore. The game needs a boost in sales and popularity to get people playing again.
Either got most of the Cyber deal games already or missed out but I did get Kirby (Wii U) and Codename Steam (3DS) and I will get Kid Icarus (3DS) this time.
WaitWaitWait!
I can play Xenoblade Chronicles on the 3DS? I don't need a New3DS? *Just*the 3ds?
I'm getting this right... Right?
Xenoblade (Wii) - finally a great deal!
Bayonetta 2 is £15 physical on a couple if sites
Seeing the prices for both versions of XBC got me thinking... Why is the New 3DS version so much more expensive? It only adds a gallery, and doesn't even let you switch the voiceover language. -_-
Nintendo are so stingy dammit!
@KO-Cub No, Xenoblade on the 3DS requires the New 3DS. Go to the online store and I think it will not show you the game to buy if you are running in on an original 3DS
@KO-Cub Nope, it's New 3DS exclusive.
I got Bayonetta 2 on release for £30 with Bayo 1 included
@Splatburst @blackice85 @morphballer
It does work, I've already put a couple of extra hours onto my existing save file since getting it this morning. Finally playing it legit now (was playing an ISO previously) and this is the best version to have as it has full gamepad control integration. £9 very well spent in my book. Thanks Nintendo, the best deal since Metroid Trilogy.
@gcunit That's a pleasant surprise then. I do wish they'd release it on the NA eshop, I'd have preferred replaying it that way.
@blackice85 @gcunit
Yep, confirmed. I was just playing the eShop version.
£16 is cheaper than I could find Icarus anywhere else, plus it's a high score/collectable based game, the kind of thing that's perfect to have permanently installed on your 3DS for when you have 10 mins spare. Go for it.
Well that's false advertisement, really. Say for "New3DS" not just "3DS."
It was half price in Australia too. Xenoblade 3D was $35 instead of $60. Picked it up finally. Loving it.
