Are any of these deals tempting you North American gamers? Let us know.
No
Two metroid games?
I'm with @SMEXIZELDAMAN. Nintendo fails at sales, lmao. This is the third week and still nothing tempts me here.
Bleh. Bought Breath of Fire. Disappointing sale.
Wouldn't exactly call these deals...
@Bearface yeah I only see one.
Appears to be just one Metroid game from what I can see.
http://www.nintendo.com/eshop/offers
I see 3 games I don't have but been meaning to get on Wii U. Thought it'll have to wait a few days. Wheres a stellar Wii U game though? Last week we got 3D World. Might double dip on Castlevania. Got it on 3DS, but would like it on TV...
is Xeodrifter the second Metroid game, or?
Doesn't OctoDad seem a little out of place in this bunch?
Hey, Zero Last Escape is on sale. I think that's a first. Other than that this sale is disappointing
@bezerker99 Agree
Attack of the Friday Monsters is a wonderful little game
@CharlieSmile
I think thats the joke.
Dadliest Catch is my favorite Metroid.
Unfortunately there is nothing this week either that is on my must purchase list. I would recommend Earthbound to anyone that does not have it. Child of Light and Breath of Fire both also just a recommend, but with the acknowledgement that they are not for everyone. While they can be enjoyable, both suffer from some issues that come from their design.
Part of me wants to purchase Minish Cap, but there is just something about the look and feel of it that keeps me from pulling the trigger.
@Mrclaycoat Came here to post just that. If you don't have it you should.
Hmm now the question is to pick up either virtue past reward or Shantae. Maybe both!
Nothing good at all with sales or new arrivals No new VC games😪, at least try to give us N64 VC discounts...
I've been hoping Octodad would get a vita sale but I'm done waiting. I guess I'll get the Wii U one instead.
Wow, I'm not one to gripe, but none of these sales involve Wii U or Wii games is pretty weak.
I plan to pick up octodad, and maybe Elliot's quest. The rest I either have or don't find appealing.
@millarrp
Elliot Quest is very good. It's pretty tough though and I never got around to finishing, but it's worth its price without a discount
Oh, Attack of the Friday Monster.... That game has a very special spot in my "gamer-heart", absolutely love it...
Nintendo always picks the most "interesting" titles to put on sale... normally ones that most people who want already have. Earthbound? Really? Anyone who wanted this classic already bought it long ago.
I do see that they may be trying to tempt people who are on the fence with titles like that and Metroid.... but shouldn't most sales be for games that few people have heard about and don't already own, to get us to try something new?
That being said, Zero Escape is a good deal for price for anyone who liked 999 on the DS and is a fan of interactive novel-like games.
I'll finallly get Affordable Space Adventures
I'm surprised more people aren't more upset about this sale on here.
Gamers are raging across the other sites and social media claiming the sale is a "slap in the face" and an insult from Nintendo.
@Xenocity it's because we're used to mediocrity by now.
I guess I could get ASA and Castlevania. I have almost all the other games.
Great price for Affordable Space... if you have a friend to play it with and one of you would enjoy flying the ship while the other makes changes to the controls/physics... it's a lot of fun and a unique experience.
I beat it in the course of one long night with my brother-in law (which is the way to do it) and I have not played the DLC mission.
@Xenocity On Nintendo related website with mostly Nintendo fans reading it you can't get that many complains as on other websites. Different people, different tastes.
Sweet! Been waiting on an Earthbound sale. Guess what I'm downloading when I get off work? Octodad is also mildly tempting, but the price is still a bit steep for my liking.
Most of the games on sale are at least fairly decent, so I don't get why some are complaining. If you already purchased them, that's not Nintendo's problem.
Everyone get Virtue's Last Reward.
It seems like NoA has been spoiled with too many sales, humble bundles, etc. that this would count as an insult. Look at NoE, were there hardly were any sales over the winter or xmas.
Elliot Quest looks great too, I'll probably get that one too
Affordable Space Adventure never really been really affordable, so meh, maybe...
Unfortunately, I already own all the games I'd have been tempted to buy.
Friday Monsters is an awesome game for anyone who loves Japanese culture. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I have all those games except Castlevania and Breath of Fire, sure they'd be tempting but it's not for Europe.
And yeah, while America gets great Nintendo sales since start of December, we in Europe just got 8 games on 4 days(!)
I got Game & Wario which I could have gotten cheaper on retail, hurts just a little.
Bayonetta 2 on that sale though was a huge disappointment - for people who already got Bayo1 it had no discount at all - it was still 29,99€ - and on retail there are a million copies for 20€.
Oh well, I also got Xenoblade Chronicles, because it was basically free (you paid 9,99€ and got a 10€ discount on Xenoblade X) but like most people I already own it and completed it on Wii.
oh yeah, Elliot Quest do look good tho...
If you don't already have Fantasy Life and Elliot Quest, by all means give them a try. Two wonderful and underrated titles.
Why just Nintendo starts fixing lower prices for their properties. Where is Luigi mansion 2? Mario Kart (for crying out loud!)?All the Pokemon games? pikmin 4? Super Mario Bros U?
Nintendo holds these sales sparingly, and for a really short time (just one week for each offer), so it can really make discounts worth considering.
Still, I'm gonna download Minish Cap and Earthbound (have been waiting for a discount for a really long time), and mayyyybe, Zero Escape (love the type of game, don't have much time to play it).
Welp, time to finally get Virtue's Last Reward and Xeodrifter. Might as well get Affordable Space Adventures, since this is probably the cheapest it'll get, barring a future Humble Bundle. Maybe even splurge for OctoDad and Elliot Quest.
Yeah, these discounts are disappointing compared to other services, but I'm not as disappointed as most. I feel like most games that are good are either worth their asking price, or become worth it once they get discounted, and I want to support the developers.
I also remember the Wii days, where digital games never went on sale, and if you missed a game with a limited print run at retail, you had to pay a pretty penny for it years later.
Might pick up Virtue's Last Reward. I kinda wanted it physical so it can sit with 999 and eventually Zero Time Dilemma.
I'll think about it over the week. Money isn't really a thing for me but I do like a deal.
I think I'll jump on that Zero Escape deal and LoZ: Minish Cap!
@KTT
Gamers are complaining about how shallow the discounts are and the lack of diversity of games.
They are also upset that they paid full price for the same games and Nintendo isn't refunding them the difference.
Sorry guys! I bought Castlevania last week at the regular price, so it is my fault that it is one of the games on sale this week. That always happens to me!
Nice to see Fantasy Life finally go on sale..
Already bought the game, but would definitely get it if I hadn't
Zero Escape has me interested. I remember a discussion from James Jones on RFN a couple years ago that really intrigued me. However, I never played 999. Can anyone tell me if I'd need to play 999 first?
It's so weird seeing Child of Light on sale on the eshop for $10.49 when I bought it at $3.75 during the summer sale last year.
In any case my impulse wallet is safe. Bummer this is how it ends, was hope for more on the retail title end.
Why are ALL virtual console games NOT cross-Buy STILL!?! Get with the times, Nintendo!
I picked up that Shantae for 10 bucks a few weeks ago on Wii U. Great game. Best of the three I think. Nothing else here looks great that I don't already have, first party wise anyway. Maybe Castlevania but probably not.
@leo13: No, you don't. Still some small details from 999 make it Zero Escape more enjoyable, I've been told.
If I didn't already have vlr zero escape 2 I would be jumping for joy.
I'm tempted to pick up Affordable Space Adventures. It's been on my radar since it was announced and the community was very positive over this game. The reality is that I need to chill on my purchases. The backlog is ridiculous.
I just bought Minish Cap two days ago... /sigh
@HyrulianOfHyrule final fantasy tactics came out today. That is a new vc game. The also had sin and punishment on sale the first week which is an n64 game
@leo13 well I imagine that's what they set up the nx for. I'm sure you will be able to transfer everything as well.
@maceng thanks. I assume that means you played zero escape and not 999?
@Xenocity how is a sale of any kind an insult?
@faint what? I think you hit reply to the wrong person
@faint
Because they devalue the products.
Gamers are easily insulted by many thing these days.
I may get Affordable. I have been on the fence because I don't enjoy Nifflas games, but I will see if my bro is interested.
OF COURSE Shantae is on sale. I bought it two weeks ago. (Great game BTW).
Already have Shantae, and that's the only game that interests me. If you're thinking about getting Shantae, you should! It's a fantastic game!
Xeodrifter and Octodad are tempting at those prices.
Octodad, Elliot Quest and Attack of the Friday Monsters are highly recommended by me
Don't think I've ever seen Zero Escape at that low of a price. I'm tempted...
meh
Nope. Already own everything on the list that interests me.
Earthbound for me! I'll finally be getting this .... FINALLY
EarthBound! I was just getting ready to drop a quarter on this one anyway.
I just beat Earthbound this week. Loved it! I never played it as kid, so it was a great walk down memory lane, in terms of gameplay, graphics and style. Took me about 42 hours. Loved the ending boss fight! That being said, I'll probably pick up Castlevania, because its so cheap.
@faint I just want some more games from the n64 but I may get FFT.
Even though it's only $3 off, EarthBound is really tempting.
If you dont own Child if Light, buy it now during this sale. It's a beautiful game and worth every penny.
Own pretty much everything when it comes to Nintendo platforms. Only thing I seem to buy lately is games I already own physically, digitally. For my "on the go" 3DS.
There are some good selections, but I already have everything I want from that list [Child of Light, Earthbound, Metroid, Shantae (Well, on Wii U, but I'm not double-dipping), and Xeodrifter].
@Xenocity Seriously? Is the concept of a sale completely new to them?
This really does prove that some people will complain about anything. Sometimes a lot of people, in fact.
affordable space adventure is finally affordable. perhaps i'll bite
Everyone just buy Zero Escape.And you'll be okay.
So many games I'd almost want
@Darknyht I felt the same when it was released on Wii U, but I went ahead and got it during the Super Smashing sale a few years ago. The beginning is a little boring, but overall it was a very good game. The concept of shrinking down added a lot of cool gameplay elements and puzzles. Plus, I just really love Vaati's evil laugh; it's much better than Ganondorf's.
Hm... I still have yet to play EarthBound, so maybe that.
I've been wanting to get Shantae and the Pirate's Curse on the Wii U in particular. May have to consider getting it on the 3DS shop though.
Not only is the game selection mediocre, but the discounts themselves are pathetic. Not even 50% on most of them.
Will it kill them to throw a bunch of vc games on sale on Wii u?? There are 200+ to choose from! Nintendo is so cheap!! Jesus Christmas!! They should look at a Sony flash sale to get a clue on what a sale is!! And no I still will NEVER BUY A 3DS VC GAME UNTIL THE FIX THE CROSS BUY PROBLEM!!! thx
Zero Escape.
Fair amount of replayability.
Huge improvement on 999 (imho).
And the rest can't hold a candle to every other platform out there.
I saw a review for Minecraft Episode 1.
For that price, I got Game of Thrones season 1 and Tales of the Borderlands.
Kind of sad, no?
1$ for flower.
Vs 7$ for Xeodrifter.
Hmm.
Guess I'll go play flower and Hotline Miami some more..
I've already got Zero Escape on Vita, but I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who hasn't tried it yet. I might pick up Fantasy Life, and that price is really making it a tough choice.
These discounts are really quite sad though. Most of these only have a few dollars off and Nintendo could definitely do better than 30%. I mean it's not like Nintendo's broke or anything. I appreciate the effort, but come on Nintendo. I mean, I picked up Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition for $10 last night. Every other system has much better sales than Nintendo does and much more frequently, I'm not sure why it's so hard or Ninty to get on par with them. They really need to if they want more people shopping on the eshop.
Is this supposed to be some pathetic attempt at an ironic joke? America is getting a third week of "Winter warm-up sales" while we in Europe are freezing and haven't had even a single one. On top of that, these "discounts" are extremely stingy.
.. finally got EarthBound (never gonna be cheaper).. this winter warm up sale was only partly sunny..Injustice was my best buy for the $.. can't wait for the Spring Thawed Out Sale...
Nintendo of America sure know's how to heat up these sales with the high prices and weak line up of games.
@Xenocity
We're not upset because everyone here is familiar with Nintendo. We're mostly the Nintendo fans. As such we already know Nintendo sales universally suck and they don't even try.
Nintendo's greatest sale ever would be a monthly sale on PSN. And not even merit mention on Steam.
It's Nintendo. You just accept that sales don't exist. Holding them to the same expectations you would have for anyone else isn't really plausible. Nintendo exists in their own little world where competition is nonexistant.
People are just salty because they already own the games on the list, and they wish they could have waited on this sale to save money.
@Darknyht minish cap is a fantastic game! I really enjoyed it.
I've been pretty happy with the sale. Got "Sin and Punishment" (N64), "Wario Land 3" (GBC), and "Earthbound" (SNES) on a discount. Also picked up "Final Fantasy Tactics Advance", which is new to VC this week.
All a matter of preference. Previous sales (that others have raved about) have failed to intice me. This one was just the right games at the right time for me.
Maybe Earthbound...
@Mrclaycoat
Been meaning to pick this up, great to see it's on sale and recommended.
I have been waiting for ages for Zero Escape, finally!
It seems like a good time to get into Elliot Quest and yet... I have too much on my plate with more coming. Blast it all
After trading a Club Nintendo slot for EarthBound Beginnings back when that closed, I immediately (as in, right when I checked the eShop that Wednesday) got the heavy hitter. Kinda tempted by Breath of Fire, but sooo muuuch backlog...
I wound up getting Breath of Fire too during this sale. I know the review was average but it's been on my list of SNES RPGs to try and I figured I might as well get it at a discount. Also picked up OctoDad. I have another couple days to decide if I want to get Elliot's Quest on sale as well now..
they should raise the price on earthbound by 10$
Why are they calling it a Winter warm-up sale?! The Winter IS ending after all!
@Darknyht
In my not-very-humble opinion, Minish Cap is the best Zelda. The puzzles are awesome, but you also have some very difficult platforming. And an interesting story about the people who live in that world as well as the amazing mechanism where you have to become tiny to move through the Minish world. Worth it!
