Tank Troopers was something of a surprise announcement during 2016, with Nintendo showing it off for the first time in September's Nintendo Direct broadcast. The game isn't out until next year in the west, but it launched today in Japan for 800 Yen and our friend NintenDaan has duly recorded some footage.
While the game's focus is offline and online multiplayer battles in tanks armed with unusual weapons such as freeze shots and paintballs, Tank Troopers also has a single-player mode. It reminds us a bit of Steel Diver: Sub Wars.
Check out the footage and let us know if you're excited about playing this game next year - or if you're already playing it on your Japanese 3DS.

Cool! Hope it gets 40million downloads!
Where's my Advance Wars sequel????
Is 800 Yen cheap? I'd get this if it were priced right. Does it have download play?
@Moon home console games costs 6,500-7,000 yen in Japan..
I'm not gonna lie, I love the look of this. The whole tone of it is fun and the combat looks great. My son will eat this up.
Awesome! Looks like a cross between Advance Wars & the PSX Ghost in the Shell game. I loved both!
@Moon It's something about £5,50, so rather cheap for a Nintendo game.
looks fun!!
Sweet, might consider this if I can convince some friends to get it too.
@Damo
why is everyone reporting this wrong? maybe because it's so unbelievable?! But THE GAME DOES NOT HAVE ONLINE PLAY. Only local and download play!
Can't wait, my son and I eat these kinda games up!
That actually looks like a good online battle game. I feel like they're limiting what the game COULD be. Imagine planes and infantry and not just tanks.
@OneBagTravel there's no online!
@Moon 800 yen is like about £5
@OneBagTravel Battalion Wars 3 Switch confirmed
@cfgk24 @Elanczewski @hieveryone Thanks
For a fiver, it's a yes from me. Even with no online... Download Play is what it's all about.
LOL I think I'll stick to World of Tanks (+ it's free to play).
@manu0 Wow... That really sucks. Are you sure? It kinda beats the purpose of the game for me.
Wow, this looks great:)
@roy130390 YES! 100%! It's on the website and they also said it during the overview trailer! Also I have the game and there's no online anywhere lol.
@manu0 Sad to hear that there is no online.
One of the reasons I still play Steel Diver is beacuse of the online component.
Well, I hope that the solo campaign is good enough to warrant purchasing a 8 bucks game.
@maceng amazon japan actually has a deal that I used where you can get 40 % off when you buy two download codes
@manu0 If it is only download play or offline multiplayer my options are quite bleak: my son doesn't play 3DS games anymore, my daughter is too young, so it leaves my fiance's daughter (8 years old) as my only possible adversary.
This game looks excellent and fun, but they really should have included a simple online play at least in some arena for with 2 vs. 2 or 4 vs. 4 online play.
any1's getting Girls und Panzer vibes, too?
i'm really hoping for an EU release, THIS YEAR * - *
